A Welcome Worthy of Jackson Hole

Home Ranch
Jackson, Wyoming

An ambassador for the community, the Home Ranch Welcome Center sets the tone for visitors: a place that is inclusive, relaxed, and deeply infused with sense of place.

Situated on a prominent corner along one of Jackson Hole’s main access routes — the gateway to Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks — the Home Ranch Welcome Center is a project that came to life despite several significant constraints. Working around an already-existing downtown parking space, as well as towering, mature spruce and cottonwood trees, our team created a space that offers an authentic welcome to the area.

Inspired by a relaxed and yet sophisticated “front porch” ambiance, the design worked around the existing features, and incorporated open, linear elements and native trees. Stones and native grasses offer a nod to the wild spaces surrounding Jackson Hole, and the vertical timbers echo traditional building materials and styles. The pedestrian-friendly space boasts custom-designed benches and ample space for access to the nearby downtown area as well as the indoor visitor center information and amenities.

The Home Ranch space acts as an ambassador for the community. At once expressing the Jackson Hole welcome to visitors of all ages and abilities and showcasing the valley’s commitment to the surrounding natural landscape, the pavilion is in alignment with the area’s larger values.
